About Superhuman Fitness

Aloha, friend! I'm Levon Basso, CSCS, PES, CES, trainer/owner of Superhuman Fitness. I appreciate the time you've taken to get to know more about me and my services. Time to get personal!

I'm a 34 year old single father of two precious little ones, daughter age 7, son age 4. I'm orignally from Honolulu and Hawaii is my home but I've also had the opportunity of living for many years on the mainland in several different states, as well as some time abroad in the Philippines. I'm positive, upbeat, and laid-back by nature, yet am also passionate about a lot of different things. First and foremost among those things is my faith and my family - they mean everything to me! All else in life aside, these are things I cannot do without!

Running a close second to those things is my love of fitness and physical activity. Like you, I love and live to be active, especially outdoors. I also believe that while achieving and maintaining fitness is important in and of itself, this achievement also serves the larger purpose of enhancing everything else we do in life and enabling us to do all of it, better. None of us, including myself as a trainer, exist as free-standing "fitness entities", independent of everything else. Even if we could, what would be the use of that? We are all a part of friendships, family relationships, businesses, communities, causes, governments, etc. and all of the interactions we maintain in these settings are enhanced by the way in which we take care of our bodies. In this aspect, I view what I do as a work that directly improves people's physical health, but also improves their overall health and well-being by increasing their capacity to accomplish much in the way of good and positivity in the world. Even though fitness training is my livelihood, I view it as a service in the truest sense of the word and am thankful for the opportunity to at least potentially be a part of this ripple effect for good and positive productivity in the lives of my clients and anyone I might be able to influence.

The sum of my many and varied experiences both at home in Hawaii and elsewhere make me well-suited to personally customize my services to the diverse interests, needs, and characteristics of the clients I strive to serve in Hawaii and beyond. Here's a summary of my fitness, athletic, and educational background:
  • I've been an athlete and loved sports ever since I can remember and have participated in 4 years of competitive high school athletics, lettering in football, basketball, and track and field. In addition, I also competed on the collegiate level in football and basketball. My current favorite fitness pursuits include bodyboarding, basketball, running, strength training, high intensity interval training, and total-body beach/sand conditioning.
  • Since BYU-Hawaii, I've pursued a few different things in the way of graduate education, including some time in medical school to become a physician. I am currently set on pursuing my dreams and aspirations in the fitness field, however, and I am presently working on a Master of Science degree in Human Movement from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. Following my master's degree, I intend on pursuing a doctorate education with the aim of teaching human anatomy, physiology, and the exercise sciences on the university level.
  • In addition to my personal experiences in athletics and my educational background, my fitness work experiences include providing corporate and institutional fitness assessments, leading sport-specific conditioning programs, working as a personal trainer at several fitness clubs in Utah, Missouri, and Arizona, and self-employed personal training.
Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me better.  I hope to meet and work with you soon!
